THIS BLOG CONTAINS THE OPINIONS OF ME, MYSELF, AND I ONLY – THIS MAY OR MAY NOT JIVE WITH THE OPINIONS OF MY EMPLOYER, MY PUBLIC RADIO STATION, MY MOM, AND QUITE POSSIBLY MY DOG. Sigh! Now that is overwith…:
Manager of the Information Technology Department at Wake County Public Libraries in Raleigh, NC for 8+ years, Theresa thought she’d work in reference when she first thought of becoming a librarian. However, a year’s study abroad in Sheffield, England in 1995-1996 changed all that. This weird online place called the Internet was just starting to buzz, and Theresa used it in all it’s glorious text 1.0 functionality to keep abreast of things stateside.
Returning to North Carolina, she continued her studies at UNC-Chapel Hill and met another librarian in training, Michael, who would become her fabulous husband.
In February 2008, she became a mama to Aidan Padraig, and her world turned wonderfully upside down. The joy she feels every day is amazing, despite the occasional thought that her mama duties has taken her down a notch in how “cutting edge” she can be in regards to Library IT “stuff”. But she wouldn’t change her life – and all her time with Aidan – for all the cool tools that are now and ever will be part of the digital world.
Her dream is to one day raise goats and be a cheese maker, while husband cultivates a successful organic blueberry farm in the Mountains of North Carolina.
Pretty slick.
See you later…
Dear Leapin’ Librarian -
I was at the GuadaLaHabra public library the other day, and wanted to know what book you might recommend for me to get for my wife. I wanted to suprise her with one of those used books they sell periodically. I would love to be able to buy her a new one, but our son starts his overpriced education on Wednesday. I ain’t seeing no problem with the public education I received in Buena Park.
Thanks
Lost in the Library
Dear “Lost”,
Might I suggest a quick perusal at Amazon.com? There are loads of very reasonably priced books (under $5) on the topic of “Marriage and Humor” – although I think your wife could probably write a book of her own on this topic. Shipping is often free in the continental US – would GuadaLaHabra qualify?
If this doesn’t appeal to you, then I’d say go for cheap jewelry – which is also abundant at Amazon. I found a cute “I heart my husband” pendant for only $3.99! And with your wife being so festiduious in her grooming and hygene, I’m sure her neck won’t turn green from the metal reaction for several months at least.
Best of luck to you!
-Leapin’
